Ready to cry?

I sure have been today. I think I’ve teared up at least 5 times. Yeah, it’s that time of the month and I’m a ball of emotions! :) So watching this again just about wrecked me… But I know this video from the auction was truly an amazing speech because I saw it live. Having the chance to hear things like this from parents is what makes my job even more worth while.

I wish I could explain how amazing this little guy is. He cracked us up every day last year in DATA with his unique sense of humor. Can you see it in his eyes? And he has learned and grown so much. I know how proud his teachers are of him, so I can only imagine what it would feel like to be his dad. What a fantastic speech he gave- enjoy! And grab your kleenex…

For Andrew and Nicholas…

…a couple of salty dogs.

I hope you like this song as much as i do.

Well hello there…

I haven’t posted anything on here since last summer! I guess that says something about how much extra time I’ve actually had as a teacher this year. Now that it’s getting close to the end of the school year, I feel like I’m getting my life into a bit more of a normal pattern and figuring myself out again.

It’s ironic that the last post I had on here was when we went camping with the Erickson’s when Angela was only a few weeks pregnant as she is about to have her baby Anna ANY SECOND! I went to Cathy’s baby shower this weekend (which was sooo lovely) and Naomi took this adorable picture of her belly.

How amazing is that?! Cathy also looked so pretty and glowy. I love this picture of her, Naomi, and I.

We’re sort of pros at taking pictures as a threesome…

I know lots of things will change as my closest friends have babies…but I know that we will never stop posing for photos. Watch out babies- you have no idea how many pictures we will take of you!

Random Camping

this last weekend we snuck away on friday afternoon to go camping. we had a few places in mind, but nothing for sure and nothing reserved. our plan was to head up to the peninsula and camp somewhere along the coast for one night and then somewhere else the second night. well….we didn’t account for it being so sunny and nice that EVERY campsite would be full. a little after 9 pm we finally found an open spot at a small, woodsy campsite right along highway 101. we were so tired of driving around that we just took it. we had what seemed like the most delicious dinner ever- hot dogs, baked beans, and potato salad- and were very grateful for a fire. june settled right in- i think she was made for the woods.

the next day we headed to port angeles and up into the olympic national park. we got a campsite at heart of the hills, drove up and saw hurricane ridge, and had a lovely day and night. overall, we really had fun and it was a good trip and a great first camping adventure for june. but we learned our lesson about just trying to wing it on a friday…don’t do it.  here are some pictures from our trip- none are from friday. :)

someone was worn out by our trip…

a perfect afternoon.

Our little family took a walk today. First we stopped by the SU soccer field and threw the ball for June. Then we walked down to Cafe Presse and had lunch on the patio. Andrew had a delicious looking croque monsieur and beer and I had a scrumptious tuna and tomato salad and iced latte. June was so exhausted from the park and the walk she slept almost the whole time- all the while drawing the attention from everyone who was within eyesight with her cuteness super powers. When it was time to walk home she was so sleepy still, she just couldn’t be bothered to walk…

She perked up a bit later and walked the rest of the way. She is such a good puppy.

Gardening & Home Stuffs

I finally bought some cute little fence things to give my peas something to hang on to. AND picked my first peas off today! They were delicious!!!

Some of my wildflowers have finally started blooming too. And I have my very own poppy!! :)

(It’s not my favorite kind, but shhh….please don’t tell her.)

I went to Lowe’s this morning (hence the fence things) and also purchased a couple basil plants, an oregano plant, and a cilantro plant.  I’d been trying to grow all three of those from seeds and it was going pretty well, but Andrew knocked over the container they were in so many times they died and so I restarted them and then he knocked them over again and then he finally threw them away. So I bought the plants and will just have them outside where they are safe from Andrew’s arms.  Finally, I bought paint. We decided that we are not going to move and that we will stay here for at least another year to save money, SO…  I’m doing some redecorating, starting with painting the living room(s), nook, and hallway. I am painting the walls “Pelican” and the trim and molding a bright white called “Hush Hush.” :) I can’t wait!

The Unnatural Helpers and Portland

That was the start to my summer vacation! And it was great!!

We had a delicious dinner at Shiku Sushi in Ballard with Andrew’s parents and then watched UH play at the Tractor with Mudhoney!

The next day we had a delish breakfast with Eric and Gail and then hit the road to Portland. Andrew was amazingly sweet and got us a hotel room at the Embassy Suites a couple blocks from where UH was playing (it had 2 rooms and 2 tv’s- wooo!). He ALSO surprised me by scheduling a massage for me at the hotel- it was awesome! It was a super fun night- lunch/dinner at Kell’s, drinks at the hotel, the show at Dante’s, back to the hotel for the swimming pool and hot tub, out to dinner #2 from a taco truck, more drinks at some pretty special places… The next morning we had free breakfast at the hotel then Justin and his sweet pup Leroy took us to Sauvie Island to hang out by the Columbia River.

(Leroy was exhausted.)

(River house boats!)

We finished off our time in Portland and then headed home and got our favorite comfort food- Rom Mai Thai. Today we got ready for camping and tomorrow we head out to Shaw Island for a week! Goodbye everyone!!

(I leave you with a little photo shoot Andrew & I did in the photo booth at Dante’s. The actual photo booth was broken so we just used our camera.)

This is perfection.

I could watch this 500 times in a row and still love it as much as I did the first time I saw it.  I hope it’s as magical to you as it is to me.  Don’t you want to be there?? In that band?!

Now that I am done (almost) with school I feel like I have time to start writing songs/poems again. It makes me feel a little more like me. I dug up this video on youtube so I could get a little inspiration from the amazing Stevie & Lindsey.
